Both I and the Magnetic Fields' genius lyricist Stephen Merritt were copy editors at Spin magazine.
I met him once at a show my friend Ben was doing with his band The Isotoners. I was cool and just treated him like anyone else, even though I wanted to share the above fun fact with him. Ben even thanked me for not acting star struck.

You forgot to mention the other thing you two have in common, which is that you are also a genius lyricist. Don't tell me you don't remember "Split Beaver."
Aha! Right you are, Dave. How could I forget...and that gem of a love song I penned around the same time, "My Sweet Beaver." You think I have a musical in the works???
